i started this group because i spent 6 months too embarrassed to ask what a "cleared for the option" actually meant. ask the dumb question here. i will go first every time if i have to
PASSED. posting here because this group is where i asked what cleared for the option meant and did not get laughed at. to whoever is lurking and too embarrassed to post: i asked the dumbest question on this board eight months ago and i have a certificate now. ask it
Not a student, I work the FBO desk, but here is something students should know. If you are training at a field with an FBO, introduce yourself to the desk. We know which instructors cancel, which airplanes are always down, and which examiner has an opening. None of that is on any website.
private checkride prep, 14 hours out. things im actually worried about, in order: talking on the radio at a towered field, weight and balance under pressure, and the examiner asking why i chose an alternate. things im not worried about: landings. which is the opposite of six months ago
SOLOED TODAY!!! posting it here too because this group is where i asked all the stupid questions on the way. to whoever is at lesson 9 right now and feels like they are getting worse: keep going. thats all. keep going
Thing I wish somebody had told me at 20 hours: your landings will get worse before they get better, and it happens right about the time you start thinking you have it. That is not regression, it is your standards moving faster than your hands. Keep going.
not a pilot student, im an A&P apprentice, but can i say that reading you all describe the airplane from the inside has made me better at my job. i understand now why a pilot cares so much about a squawk that looks minor on paper
ok going first. what does cleared for the option actually mean, and why did nobody explain it before my instructor said it on the radio and looked at me
