About the Role Our client, a global leader in air traffic management solutions, is seeking a visionary Lead Air Traffic Control Systems Architect to spearhead the design and evolution of critical air traffic control (ATC) systems in Atlanta, Georgia . This senior position involves defining the technological roadmap for air traffic management, ensuring scalability, reliability, and safety. You will architect complex, distributed systems that manage airspace operations for major aviation hubs. Key Responsibilities Architect and design comprehensive air traffic control systems, encompassing surveillance, communication, navigation, and automation functionalities. Develop and maintain the strategic technical roadmap for ATC systems, anticipating future technological advancements and regulatory changes. Lead a team of systems engineers in the development, implementation, and validation of new ATC functionalities. Ensure the scalability, resilience, and security of ATC systems to meet growing air traffic demands. Collaborate with regulatory bodies and industry stakeholders to define system requirements and standards. Define interfaces and data exchange protocols between various ATC system components and external systems. Conduct performance analyses and optimization studies for existing and proposed ATC systems. Mentor and guide engineering teams on best practices in systems architecture and design for safety-critical applications. Evaluate emerging technologies and their potential application in enhancing air traffic management capabilities. Requirements Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field. 10+ years of experience in designing and architecting complex, mission-critical systems, with a significant focus on air traffic control or aviation systems. In-depth knowledge of radar, ADS-B, multilateration, voice communication systems (VCS), and flight data processing (FDP). Proven experience with system modeling tools (e.g., SysML, UML) and architecture frameworks. Familiarity with aviation regulations and standards (e.g., FAA, EUROCAE). Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities in complex, distributed environments. Experience working in a hybrid or fast-paced project environment is a plus.
