Position Summary
As a Lead Captain in addition to acting as a flight crewmember, you are responsible for maintaining safe communication between the aircraft and Clay Lazy Aviation, including Flight Support Manager (ADM), DOM, Director of Training, Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP), and Flight Support Specialists.
You will maintain crew compliance with applicable regulations and procedures, and assist in coordinating training schedules. You will also be responsible for mentoring crew members and ensuring adherence to all Clay company culture and ideals within your flight department.
Position Level Concerns - Aircraft: Pilatus PC-24 - Position: Type Rated only, no contract - Reports to: Chief Pilot - Operation: Pt 91, 100 total hours (approx) - Compensation/Benefits: $250,000.00 to $300,000 per annum. Comprehensive benefits package including health, dental, vision, 401(k) and paid holidays.
*Lead Candidates are required to be type rated in the PC24 and reside within a 2 hour drivable commuting distance to KSNA, or be willing to relocate.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Act as Pilot in Command (PIC) or Second in Command (SIC) as designated - Ensure compliance with flight and maintenance schedules and other directives governing flight operations - Ensure crew compliance with flight & duty times limitations as outlined in the GOM if Part 135 are applicable or Part 135 equivalent as able if Part 91 - Ensure the accuracy of all required flight duties & inspections files via APAD - Manage and coordinate DOM & ACM to ensure aircraft readiness and integrity of records and documentation - Ensure all crew members' performance and communicate to Assistant Chief Pilot (ACP) - Complete & approve crew expense reports IAW CLA policy - Provide monthly status summaries. Report deviations to accounting and ACM - Ensure all crew members are current and proficient in all required training per ACM inclusion schedule. Communicate with ACM for crew approval if necessary - Liaison with ACP and Director of Training - Ensure compliance with all training, recurrent, and proficiency requirements - Conduct annual aircraft black book audits (work with Flight Ops and ACP) - Ensure compliance with fuel requirements (DOD, special equipment, etc.) - Ensure all crew members understand and comply with all required special operations authorizations and mandates
Maintenance Related Responsibilities
- Coordinate with scheduled maintenance events - Ensure timely communication of mechanical AOG events not required - Review monthly work order invoices - Communicate with Maintenance Coordinator re: DOM if equipment maintenance-related items. Inquiries to ensure all maintenance related scheduling is coordinated effectively to include scheduling records in ACM
Additional Responsibilities
- Ensure all non-related requests or changes from aircraft owner (or charter client) are communicated to Charter Department and Chief Pilot's office. - Assist in gathering any required operationally related data for special projects or reporting requirements - Mediate and facilitate good working relationships within your Flight Department - Ensure we maintain good working relationships with all external stakeholders and CLA personnel - Provide constructive feedback to increase efficiency in process and procedure within CLA through the ACM or Safety Management System if necessary - Other duties as required in support of CLA and the aircraft owner - Update Scheduling Specialist regarding aircraft schedule changes and other matters that may affect the flight department - Coordinate with ACM, DOM, Scheduling Specialist and managed billing to have regular formal meetings to discuss & manage activities, the events, budget, identify opportunities for improvement, and gather information gathered from owner and create follow-up action items - In conjunction with the ACP/DOM, provide to the aircraft owners and all flight department personnel - Communicate with ACM for prior approval for all operational, personal and professional activities - Make recommendations for additional training to flight department members to ACM & ACP (continuous, as training needs arise, etc.)

Required Education and Experience
- As a Lead Captain, should have the minimum experience required to safely operate the assigned aircraft in compliance with the company Operational Specifications. General knowledge, Manual, and Flight Operations Manual are among document requirements. - PC24 type rating required. - First Class Medical Required. - Current and valid FAA Part 135 requirements for aircraft type assigned - ATP certificate required. Must remain current with flight requirements - Valid & unexpired Driver's License - Must pass Pre-Employment Drug Screening and Background Check. - *Must live within two (2) hours of KSNA.
