Somebody asked how you get into ferry work. Honestly? You know a guy. There is no posting, no application, no HR. An owner needs an airplane moved, a broker knows three people, and you are one of the three because you did a clean job last time and answered your phone. That is the whole industry and it is maddening if you are outside it.

Coming from a world with a formal assignment process, hearing that half of civilian aviation runs on who answers the phone has been the biggest adjustment.

It is not fair and I am not defending it. The only counter I know is to be findable and to be boring about reliability.
