Pulled the floats and put the skis on this week. Every year I forget how much the airplane changes personality and every year the first ski landing reminds me. Snow hides everything. You land on what you decided the surface was during the low pass, and the low pass is the entire flight.

Floats to skis is the only seasonal ritual in aviation that actually feels like a ritual.

The low pass being the entire flight applies to unimproved landing zones too. I do two if anything looks off and I have never regretted the fuel.
