Eight years writing software, and now I am 41 and chair flying approach plates at my kitchen table. Instrument checkride is in three weeks and I have never been worse at something I wanted this badly. Holds still get me. Advice welcome.
Stop drawing the entry and start asking which side of the inbound course you are on. The three entries are just the three answers to that question.
And fly the first one badly on purpose in the sim. Watching yourself recover from a sloppy entry is worth more than ten clean ones.
Thumb on the heading bug pointed at the holding fix. Whichever side your nose falls on tells you the entry. Corny, worked for me.
