customer wants full glass in a 1978 Baron. wiring is original. some shop in the 90s spliced pitot heat into the nav light circuit and never wrote it up. found it because the ammeter twitched when i turned the heat on. 3 days of tracing before i touch a single new box.

Every avionics job is 70 percent archaeology. Whoever did that splice is retired and untouchable and we all know it.

how do you even find something like that without pulling the whole panel

you pull the whole panel. thats the answer. there is no shortcut, there are only people who skipped it and shipped a gremlin
