Corrosion does not announce itself. It shows up as a paint bubble the size of a pea and by the time you can see it from six feet away you are into the skin. This is why the airplane parked outside in Florida costs more to own than the identical one in a hangar in Arizona, and nobody prices that in.

Underwriting agrees, and we do price it, quietly. Hangared aircraft claim less. Owners never ask why their quote differs from a friend with the same airplane.

A paint bubble the size of a pea is where my job and Winnie's job meet, and it is never good news for the owner.
