Warrant Officer (Aviation)

This position involves piloting of the CCSO aviation helicopters. Position incumbent interfaces with federal and state agencies on matters concerning aviation issues. Assist direct supervisor to develop operation plans and to coordinate with outside law enforcement agencies. Assignments are received in the form of broad policy statements. They must be capable of working as part of a two-man team or solo in the dynamic low altitude environment. They must be able to operate in day, night, NVG and IMC conditions. They must also be well versed in the law enforcement part of the mission, operating highly specialized observation, tracking, navigation, and communications equipment. They are primarily responsible for acting as Pilot-in-Command on all assigned missions. Work is performed under direction of the Chief Warrant Officer. Performance is reviewed through conferences and written reports. This position is considered essential under the CCSO Emergency Plan.
