Coordinates maintenance efforts with other mechanics, the lead person and supervisory personnel to ensure the timely return of aircraft to mission-capable status. Applies senior level expertise in the maintenance of T- 6, and T-38 aircraft. Assists the lead person in supervising the maintenance activities of assigned personnel. Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

•Performs inspection, maintenance and troubleshooting tasks on aircraft systems andcomponents. Informs the lead person of discrepancies, repairs and possible delays. Requestsand schedules specialist support as necessary. •Ensures the use of technical data in all aspects of aircraft maintenance. •Completes and ensures completion of all necessary manual and automated records required byUSAF and company directives. •Performs operations, functional and rig checks on T-6, and T-38 flight controls, landing gear andthrottle control systems as required. Also performs run and trim and operational checks of J85, &PT6A engines as necessary. •Removes and replaces engines as necessary. •Within qualifications conducts inspections of aircraft and system maintenance to ensure qualityand completeness. •Operates ground support equipment and uses the special tools/fixtures applicable tomaintenance of the assigned aircraft. •Performs all aircraft servicing and inspection tasks necessary to return aircraft to mission-capable status. •Participates in and ensures compliance with established FOD prevention, housekeeping, tool control,environmental and safety programs. •Researches and requisitions parts and components and determines the repair ability andserviceability of parts and components. •Coordinates maintenance activities with Maintenance Control functional. Keeps Maintenance Control informed of aircraft status and mission progression. •Reviews aircraft records to ensure that required maintenance has been performed, that hourlyand calendar tracked events are current and that all associated documentation has been completed. •In coordination with the section supervisor and the training specialist provides on-the-job training ofnew employees. •Assists and instructs less skilled personnel in correct procedures. •Assists section lead and in his/her absence performs the duties of the lead asrequired. •Follows technical data, manuals, regulations, and other maintenance directivesas required. Performs other related duties as assigned. •Participates in towing and movement of aircraft in performing maintenance activities. Qualifications and Experience: Knowledge-An in -depth knowledge of the assigned aircraft is required. A thorough working knowledge of applicable technical publications is required. Education -Completion of high school or equivalent and completion of specialized courses is required. The ability to read and write and interpret technical data and special operating instructions is required. Experience - A minimum of two (2) Years of applicable aircraft maintenance experience on the current/specific aircraft the individual is qualified to perform maintenance on.

Special Conditions -Good verbal and written skills and leadership abilities are required. For personnel working in fuel cell maintenance a physical is required, must be able to enter the smallest cell opening, must be able to become qualified and use a respirator. Must be able to lift a minimum weight of 50 lbs., stand for prolonged periods of time, and have the ability to climb ladders and stairs. Normal color vision is required. Possession of a valid drivers license is necessary to obtain flight line driving privileges.
