Job Overview and Responsibilities The Principal Developer is a hands-on technical role within the Digital Technology, Customer Travel Experience team, focused on designing, building, modernizing, and supporting travel services capabilities.. This role is responsible for developing scalable, efficient, secure, and reliable solutions that support core business capabilities and improve the customer travel journey.
The Principal Developer applies strong engineering, analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills to translate business needs into effective technical designs, resolve complex system issues, and deliver high-quality software components. This role also applies AI-enabled engineering practices, including AI-assisted development lifecycle capabilities, agentic automation, intelligent code analysis, test acceleration, and production triage support to improve developer productivity, solution quality, and operational effectiveness.
Operating with a high degree of ownership and technical independence, this role collaborates with product, architecture, support, and development teams, contributes to technical design decisions, supports production incidents, and provides hands-on guidance to help ensure reliable delivery and continuity of critical systems.
• Design, build, and modernize scalable applications using C#, .NET, AWS, and cloud-native practices, while applying AI competency to improve solution design, automation, productivity, and operational effectiveness • Own hands-on development, integration, troubleshooting, and production support for Travel Services systems • Works with business, support, or development teams recommending system enhancements Consults across multiple United Digital Technology projects and technology areas to perform troubleshooting, problem management, root-cause analysis, and solution implementation • Translate business requirements into technical designs and deliver end-to-end solutions with predictable, high-quality outcomes. • Identifies opportunities to leverage/influence the direction for existing infrastructure and application components • Apply AI-enabled engineering practices, including AIDLC, agentic automation, intelligent code analysis, test acceleration, and operational triage support • Collaborate with product, architecture, vendor, support, and distributed engineering teams to align technical solutions with business and enterprise architecture goals

Qualifications What’s needed to succeed (Minimum Qualifications): • Bachelors degree • 15+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, cloud engineering, or related fields • Experience working with globally distributed engineering, product, and operations teams. • AWS certification or equivalent demonstrated AWS expertise. • Experience with infrastructure as code, container platforms, serverless architectures, observability tools, and incident-management practices. • Experience modernizing legacy systems or integrating vendor platforms into cloud-native ecosystems • Airline domain knowledge is an added advantage. • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
What will help you propel from the pack (Preferred Qualifications): • Masters degree in related field • Experience delivering and operating business-critical applications or platforms • Experience working with enterprise platforms, SaaS solutions, vendor systems, or complex third-party integrations • Solid experience across the software delivery lifecycle, including Agile, release management, CI/CD, testing, observability, and reliability.
