Base Location: Lehigh Valley Internation Airport (ABE) 3311 Airport Rd. Allentown, PA 18109 Position Type: Full-Time, Twenty-Three (23) days availability per month, serving under 14 CFR 135 and 14 CFR 91 operations.

JOB SUMMARY The Lead Captain is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of company flights, ensuring full compliance with all applicable FAA regulations, company policies, and customer requirements. This includes pre-flight planning, preparation of the aircraft for departure, and oversight of all phases of flight operations. The Lead Captain is also responsible for delivering a high level of customer service by ensuring passenger safety, comfort, and overall satisfaction.
In addition to flight duties, the Lead Captain is assigned responsibility for one or more specific aircraft within the fleet. This role combines operational flying responsibilities with aircraft ownership and accountability to ensure the assigned aircraft remains safe, compliant, and ready for service. The Lead Captain is expected to maintain the aircraft in a clean, organized, and client-ready condition at all times. This position is designed to develop qualified candidates toward eventual Check Airman status within the company.
The Lead Captain is expected to maintain currency and operate other aircraft within the fleet as required. While the Lead Captain will be scheduled primarily on their designated aircraft, the Company reserves the right to assign flying duties on other aircraft or at other base locations as needed to support operational requirements. The Company may also assign other qualified captains to operate the assigned aircraft as necessary to support scheduling, coverage, and overall operational efficiency.
The Lead Captain serves as the primary operational point of contact for the assigned aircraft and works closely with Flight Operations and Maintenance. This position supports, but does not replace, the responsibilities of the Chief Pilot or Director of Operations.
LEAD PILOT RESPONSIBILITIES Pilot in Command Responsibilities: Complete the proper planning of each flight utilizing all applicable information concerning weather, air traffic, airport conditions, airways and navigational facilities. Ensure the aircraft meet the requirements of safe flight as specified in this Company manual and FAA Regulations (FARs). Completes all flight plans and reports in accordance with Company policies and FARs. Determine that the aircraft is air-worthy in accordance with FARs and Company policies and procedures; completes appropriate preflight inspections. Ensures the flight is planned and fueled properly so that the flight may be conducted safely and in accordance with policies and regulations. Ensure that all current manuals, publications, and navigational charts required by this manual are on board the aircraft. Safely, properly, and effectively operate the aircraft in accordance with FAA regulations and Company policies and procedures. Maintains a thorough working knowledge of the equipment operated, FARs, Company manuals, policies, procedures, and other directives. Be thoroughly familiar with all normal and emergency procedures for each aircraft and have a complete understanding of all procedural changes as they become effective. Ensure that all appropriate briefings are conducted in accordance with FARs and Company policies. Notifies crew and passengers of turbulent weather conditions or any other operational factor that may affect the flight. Call the Director of Maintenance for guidance at any time a maintenance problem arises while away from home. Complete a load manifest for each flight and ensure that manifest is properly transmitted to Flight Operations Ensure reliable and on-time operation by meeting all report times, departure times and turn times. Assist with and ensure proper handling of aircraft, passengers, baggage, and cargo. Present a professional appearance according to company policy and practices. Conduct self professionally at all times. Perform other duties as assigned by the company leadership. Supervise and mentor Second-in-Command and other personnel. Stay fully informed concerning the progress of the flight including, but not limited to, enroute, destination and alternate weather, fuel remaining vs. fuel required, air traffic conditions, NOTAM's, etc. Ensure that proper and adequate servicing and security are obtained while away from home.
Aircraft Lead Responsibilities: Take ownership of the overall condition, readiness, and presentation of the assigned aircraft Ensure the aircraft is consistently clean, organized, properly stocked, and ready for customer operation; this will include cleaning exhaust/oil stains, bugs, and interior (The plane must be thoroughly cleaned monthly) Ensure avionic databases for airplane and EFB's are always current and correct Maintain awareness of aircraft status, including discrepancies, maintenance activity, and upcoming requirements Communicate discrepancies and operational concerns in a timely manner and follow through on resolution with Maintenance and Operations Support Maintenance as directed for remote work e.g. a liaison for off-site/remote work Serve as a point of coordination for the assigned aircraft between pilots, Flight Operations, and Maintenance Service as a liaison when offsite maintenance is required. Support consistent standards across the fleet by maintaining a high level of care, attention to detail, and professionalism in the assigned aircraft
Pilot In Command Required Minimal Qualifications (PIC – Part 135 IFR): 1,200 hours total time 500 hours cross country 100 hours of night flying 75 hours instrument time (50 hours in actual flight) 25 hours, multi engine piston.
Additional Requirements: Current Second Class Medical or Higher US Passport with International Travel Baron and Chieftain Navajo experience as PIC is preferred but not required. Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations Successful completion of FAA drug testing and background checks No Accidents/Incidents Must reside within fifty miles of the designated airport. Must be available for on-call duty in addition to schedule flights. Must be available to work daytime, evening, and weekend hours as needed. Must be authorized to work in US. Must have a valid Real ID driver's license.
Compensation: Compensation for this position includes a monthly minimum guarantee paid at the applicable hourly flight rate, with additional hourly pay for all flight time, as measured by hobbs meter, exceeding the monthly minimum. Monthly minimum varies based on seasonal demand.
Additional compensation may include: Wait time, when applicable Premium pay for short-notice or after-hours trips (e.g., organ transport flights) Tips/Gratuity
Benefits: Medical Health Insurance (80% coverage for employees, and family members up to $1,000.00 per month). Vision and Dental Insurance are available for purchase separately.
Paid Time Off: 10 (Ten) days annually which shall begin to accrue on your first day of work. Sick Time Off: 5 (Five) days annually. Holiday: 6 (Six) holidays are recognized annually. 401 K: Company matches 4% with a maximum of $1,000.00 annually.
Physical Requirements Vision correctable to 20/20 Adequate hearing and speech to communicate clearly via aviation headset. Ability to sit for extended periods, operate aircraft controls and safely perform all flight duties. Ability to climb in and out of aircraft, bend, kneel, and conduct pre/post flight inspections. Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs. Tolerance for long duty days, irregular schedules, varying climates, high noise environments
