Position Overview Prepares aircraft for paint‑related operations, performing tasks safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. Works under general supervision in a fast‑paced paint shop environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Mask, sand, and otherwise prepare aircraft surfaces for paint.
• Apply glazing and sealing compounds in preparation for final coating.
• Operate and maintain preparation and priming equipment; mix paints and primers to specification.
• Perform leading‑edge sealant work as part of final detail.
• Follow all safety, 5S, and housekeeping policies; use required personal protective equipment and protect the aircraft interior (PTP).
• Care for and maintain shop equipment and tools as assigned.
• Adhere to paint‑shop standard practices and accept additional duties as needed.
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum 1 year of painting experience (aerospace preferred).
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering documentation.
• Pass a pulmonary function test for respirator certification.
• Comfortable using tools, equipment, and materials in aircraft painting; able to climb ladders, work in confined spaces, perform close‑tolerance tasks, and lift up to 40 lb.
• Computer literate.
• Working knowledge of paint processes and products (lacquers, enamels, epoxies, urethanes, acrylics).
Physical & Environmental Demands
• Must be able to stand, climb, kneel, crawl, and lift up to 40 lb.
• Must work any shift, including evenings or weekends as required.
• Exposure to paint fumes, solvents, and typical shop noise; respirator use required.
Uniform Policy
• Uniform Requirements : Purchase uniforms from designated supplier (CINTAS).
• Interim Attire : Wear navy-blue shirt/t-shirt and blue work pants/shorts (no denim) prior to receiving uniforms.
• Suggested Items :
• 3 T-Shirts
• 3 Flat front pants
• 2 Face masks (in case the mask mandate returns)
• Safety Shoes : Steel-toed shoes required for job duties.
