Job Summary Under limited to direct supervision, the Fabrication Technician performs operational activities in support of experimental, structural, and flammability testing. Activities utilize skillsets related to sheet metal, machining, welding, instrumentation/electrical, fabrication, calibrations, hydraulic/pneumatics, large structural elements, and test execution. This is a hands-on role in a test lab environment supporting aircraft development and certification. Key Responsibilities • Assemble and maintain complex test lab fixtures and equipment utilizing various skills • Assemble, inspect, and repair complex test articles and specimens • Assist with test executions and coordinate directly with Test Engineering as required • Comply with safety rules and procedures; use protective equipment and address unsafe conditions • Show understanding of experimental test process and internal lab SOPs and Work Methods • Show basic knowledge in systems and capabilities used throughout the lab • Communicate to receive and understand work assignments; provide status to supervisor on progress or help needed • Ensure all work meets quality standards and specifications • Follow standard operating procedures when operating company and lab equipment • Apply 6S and Lean initiatives to keep shops, hangars, and work areas clean and uncluttered • Properly use and maintain company-provided tools and equipment; return items to storage after use
Machinist II Responsibilities: 12. Under close supervision, perform planning, layout, setup, and operation of various conventional machinery; assist and train junior machinists 13. Set up machines, compute angular dimensions, locate and lay out reference lines, center points, and lines 14. Plan sequence of operations and determine proper cutting tools, speeds, and feeds 15. Perform complex machining tasks and check work for conformance using precision measuring equipment 16. Maintain clean and safe working environment Sheetmetal Welder Responsibilities: 17. Perform variety of metal joining processes and basic metal working tasks 18. Fabricate and install components as directed; remove, refurbish, modify, and reinstall components 19. Fabricate aircraft components as requested by technicians or external customers 20. Research materials and processes ensuring compliance with ANSI, AWS, FAA, Gulfstream, and/or aircraft manufacturer standards 21. Correctly complete required internal and FAA paperwork 22. Correctly use power and hand tools to cut, form, and prepare pieces for welding 23. Make effective use of systems to enter labor against Work Orders, create picklists, purchase requisitions, review Work Orders, add items, and sign off Work Orders Requirements • Education: High School Diploma or GED required • Experience: 2 years experience in aviation, manufacturing, or electronics required • Required Skills: • Experience with basic hand tools and basic math skills • Basic experience (1-2 years) of one or combination of: • Aircraft inspection, maintenance, and repair • Machining – plan, layout, setup, and operation of machinery • Welding – familiar with ANSI, AWS guidelines, metallurgy, metal working procedures, welding processes for aircraft applications • Hydraulic installations/assembly experience
• Proficient in blueprint reading/interpretation and shop mathematics • Experience with CAD packages and planning systems • Valid drivers license required to operate towing and other Gulfstream transportation equipment • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand the English language • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas, lift up to 40 lbs, and work any shift • Good working knowledge of computers and Microsoft Office suite
• Other Requirements: • Must be familiar with ANSI, AWS, and other pertinent process specifications • Knowledge of metallurgy, metal working procedures, and welding processes with regard to aircraft applications
