Jefferson County Public Schools in Louisville, KY are hiring two teaching positions in the Academy at Shawnee Aviation program. This is an exciting opportunity to pass your passion for aviation on to the next generation of pilots and aircraft maintenance technicians. Prior to an official offer of employment: • Candidate meets work experience criteria (4 years of experience in content area, 2 years of experience in the past 5 years). The state program consultant will verify eligible work experience. • There is no college degree required (at the time of hire). If a candidate does not have a content related degree, the candidate will be required to take a content knowledge exam (requirements below).

The candidate either takes and passes a content knowledge assessment OR has a current industry certification(s) to show content knowledge within the area in which certification is sought (assessments used to meet this criterion are located on the most recent Board Assessment Order and are listed below): • Airframe and Power Plant Mechanics 0803 - Federal Aviation Administration certified airframe and power plant • Aviation Technology (Aviation Flight Technician) 0806 - FAA certified commercial license with instructor endorsement OR FAA basic ground instructor rating OR FAA private pilot license.

• If the candidate has NO college credit hours on an official college transcript, the candidate will take both the content knowledge exam AND the entrance exam.
