Aircraft Tradesperson

Pratt & Whitney — Christchurch, Canterbury

Requirements

Christchurch Engine Centre is recruiting a number of qualified Level 4 Aircraft Tradespeople (permanent, full-time) to support the expansion of maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities for the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine in New Zealand. We welcome applicants with backgrounds in aviation, mechanical, heavy diesel, automotive or related trades. This role is based onsite in Christchurch, NZ.

The ideal candidate is willing to work rotating shifts and overtime, demonstrates strong attention to detail, prioritises safety, follows established procedures, and has a proactive approach to learning. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a world-class aerospace team, with ongoing training and professional development.

Hours of Work: We operate a day shift only as well as an alternating nights and days shift pattern; as a shift worker you may be placed on either pattern. Availability to work overtime is appreciated and compensated accordingly. Dayshifts: 7:00am-3:30pm and nightshifts: 3:45pm-12:15am.

Main tasks: Work at designated workstations within Assembly or Disassembly following successful completion of induction training. Operate tools, machines, and equipment to perform detailed engine assembly, disassembly, inspection, and maintenance. Carry out engine work as per manufacturer's manuals and customer-specific requirements. Interpret engine manuals and adhere strictly to work instructions, ensuring precision and quality at all stages. Meet timelines and milestones to deliver engines to testing and back to the customer on time without compromising safety and quality.

Carry out SAP transactions and make necessary changes to work orders in SAP. Maintain accurate records of all work performed in line with quality and compliance standards. Ensure that your work meets all health and safety requirements.

About the Organisation: Christchurch Engine Centre, a joint venture between Pratt & Whitney and Air New Zealand, delivers world-class maintenance, repair, and overhaul services across all IAE V2500 engine variants and is adding capability for the new PW1100G-JM engine late in 2026. Pratt & Whitney, an RTX business, is globally recognised for designing, manufacturing, and servicing aircraft engines and auxiliary power units for commercial, military, and business aviation.
