The primary purpose of this position, AIRCRAFT ORDNANCE SYSTEMS MECHANIC LEADER, WL-6652-10, is to provide mechanical, Electrical, and hydraulic repair and associated support for workload assigned to the Aircraft Armament Repair Branch.
Duties Lead a team of trades and/or labor workers. Perform nonsupervisory trades and/or labor work that is usually of the same kind and level as members of the work crew led. Accomplish maintenance tasks as directed by the work control document on aircraft missile and special weapons launching devices, decoys, egress and jettison systems, rocket launching equipment, external fuel tanks, gun systems, pylons, and ejector racks. Repair, modify, and adjust the ordnance system to conform to specifications.
Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the quality level of experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-6600 Armament Work Family.
Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. The screen out element for this position is: Ability to Lead or Supervise.
JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair etc. Technical Practices (theoretical, precise, artistic) Use of Measuring Instruments Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (includes blueprints reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment Trouble Shooting PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work.

You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The work requires standing, bending, stooping, climbing, stretching, and working in tiring and uncomfortable positions and hard to reach places. Frequently lifts parts and equipment weighting 25 pounds or more, with mechanical or human assistance. WORK ENVIRONMENT: Work is performed either inside or outside, and subjects the employee to prevailing weather conditions, noise, slippery or uneven surfaces, and working in confined areas.
Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, burns, grease, oil, dirt, electrical shock, and possible injury when de-arming and arming the system.
