Cold weather thread, since it is that time. Contaminated runway numbers are not conservative, they are the numbers. I have watched two crews in twenty years argue with a braking action report and both of them were technically legal and both of them scared themselves badly.

Legal and survivable overlap a lot less in winter than the rest of the year. Nobody teaches that distinction well.

We got a medium report at a northern station in January that had been taken 40 minutes earlier. Forty minutes is a lifetime in falling snow. Asked for a new one and it came back poor.
